Objectives:

Responsible for leading a Rochester, NY based manufacturing engineering team that supports 7x24 medical device manufacture, as well as identifying and leading projects that ensure achievement of KPIs, improve operational performance, and develop team members using LEAN methodologies. This includes applying B+L’s core values to prioritize resources, funding, and resulting activities to deliver high quality contact lens products at the lowest cost that help people see better, live better.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage an engineering team to promptly resolve manufacturing equipment/process issues to ensure that key operational goals and quality requirements are consistently achieved.

  • Develop direction, strategy, and plans in support of site and business unit objectives.

  • Contribute, as part of the Site Extended Leadership team to establish strategic site goals & priorities, establish project timelines, and leading performance indicators.

  • Ensure that all engineering related policies, procedures, and programs are in place and executed to provide a safe, secure, and comfortable workplace.

  • Ensure that appropriate preventative maintenance programs are defined and in place.

  • Identify, develop, and implement innovative processes/technologies to support the continual improvement of existing products, equipment, and manufacturing operations.

  • Develop strategic plans for equipment/asset utilization. Support effective planning and use of capital expenditures and execute within budget/forecasts.

  • Provide technical expertise to the organization to conduct root cause failure analysis, CAPA management, risk assessment, and complaint investigations.

  • Manage team members to ensure compliance to cGMP’s, ISO requirements and internal policies and procedures.

  • Foster a LEAN environment that encourages continuous innovation, growth, and development of employees to ensure the long-term vitality of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science. Master's Degree in Engineering or Science and/or Management preferred.

  • 9-11 years experience in a technical management position within a manufacturing organization, Experience within a medical device company is highly desirable.

  • Understanding of cGMP/ISO requirements pertaining to manufacturing operations. Strong knowledge of and experience using change management and qualification/validation best practices.

  • Excellent oral/written communication, project management, and organization skills required.

  • Competent understanding of statistics and problem solving skills/experience; able to lead an organization built on the tenants of Lean/Six Sigma, and the constant use of data to drive decision making;

  • Project management experience and working knowledge of Gannt charts and Microsoft Project.

  • Prior experience in a technical management capacity within a manufacturing and/or medical device company.

  • Prior positions should include experience with manufacturing, industrial automation, process improvement, project management, product/process development, manufacturing process transfer & scale up.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For New York State, the range of salary for this role is $125,000 - $180,000.
