Objectives/Purpose of the Job:

Performs analytical testing for the functional group (Finished Products, Stability, Raw Materials), and reviews raw data generated by GMP guidelines and sample specifications.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Performs testing for the in-process, finished product, stability, and raw materials samples using USP, EP, BP, and in-house test methods and advanced analytical techniques/equipment, such as HPLC, TCD, and FID GC, Fourier Transform IR, etc.

  • Verifies, and reviews, sample preparations, instrument set-up, and test data for applicable test articles.

  • Reports accurate and timely test results to deliver quality.

  • Demonstrates the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.

  • Set up and troubleshoot/ repairing machinery and computer programs if problems arise.

  • Writes, investigates, and executes deviations and non-conformance to analytical procedures, OOT and OOS results.

  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.

  • Reviews, revises, analytical laboratory SOPs and testing methods.

  • Assists in the planning and improvement of processes, equipment or methods. Train and assist in training of the new and current colleagues.

  • Support OpEx and EHS&S initiatives. Expected to comply with all company, local, state, and federal safety and quality regulations and report any concerns, violations, or accidents.

  • Identifies, coordinates, and performs training,

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Assumes the responsibility for the GMP, ISO, and Environmental Health and Safety procedure awareness and compliance within the respective area.

Scope of Position:

Qualifications/Training:

  • B. S. in Chemistry preferred, Minimum B.A. in Chemistry or related science.

  • 7+ years in GMP pharmaceutical chemical analysis. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures using complex laboratory equipment.

  • Must be detail oriented. Must be highly analytical and have excellent critical thinking skills to ensure proper analyses and recording of results. Time management and observation are also important.

  • Should be able to read, write and speak English, possess basic math skills.

  • Must be able to work and problem solve individually or as part of a team in pharmaceutical analytical techniques and test methods.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an ability to multitask.

  • Expert in pharmaceutical analytical techniques and test methods.

  • Understanding of chemical process.

  • Must be able to train/mentor with a detailed understanding GLP/GMP and current FDA regulations.

  • Fluent in HPLC, GC, FT/IR, UV/VIS, and specialty equipment.

  • Empower - is a must.

  • LIMS, Documentum, CatsWeb, Kinatna.

  • Computer literate and can use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
