The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role within the US Finance team, supporting SOX compliance and corporate operations. This role encompasses a board range of accounting functions, from performing monthly controls, supporting monthly close activities and special projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform testing procedures on SOX controls and document testing results

  • Perform business process walkthroughs and document business process narratives and/or business process flows

  • Proactively identify emerging business and technical risks, issues, and developments in a timely manner for action and incorporation into the SOX compliance program documentation

  • Coordinate monthly close functions including open/close ledgers, FX, and allocations

  • Record journal entries related to corporate functions such as treasury, payroll, legal, prepaid, accrued liabilities, etc.

  • Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Support internal and external SOX 404 audit requests and compliance requirements

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support various departmental, functional and corporate initiatives.

  • Assist with the application of GAAP to new transactions.

  • Build and maintain cooperative, respectful working relationships with relevant internal and external parties.

  • Take on additional responsibilities as departmental workloads evolve.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office

  • 3 or more years of experience in a similar role preferably with a $500M+ business

Preferred:

  • CPA, MBA and/or experience in public accounting

  • Experience with HFM, PeopleSoft, or SAP
